Patients with Atrial fibrillation may be at increased risk for death and heart failure and therefore an echocardiogram, or ultrasound of your heart, and a stress test may need to be completed.

There are also patients who have sleep apnea, or a disorder of sleeping, and a clear association with atrial fibrillation. To fully evaluate this a sleep study may need to be performed.
